Utter utter drivel
Referee Gareth Hewer was at the centre of a storm of controversy this afternoon at Mount Pleasant as a vibrant Batley Bulldogs outfit were cruelly robbed of a deserved three point haul in their opening Northern Rail Cup clash. but the injustice was palpable on the home terraces as the scorer was the same man who should have been dismissed on the hour. Ben Kavanagh's last-gasp try in the first half seemed a bit TOO last-gasp with 42 minutes on this reporter's stopwatch. Then came arguably the pivotal moment of the game on the hour, with the Campbell/Thackeray incident. There seemed no issue with Campbell tackled and about to get up and play the ball before Thackeray inexplicably laid into him with the boot. It was a knee in the chest as he got up and it wasn't inexplicable Campbell had grabbed his balls. and they may well now possess the best half-back pairing in the Championship. Complete utter crock of poop... It's good to be supportive but there is a line and I'm amazed that something so bias (and inaccurate) would be allowed on an official website. |
