Frustration : Sun Jun 13, 2010 4:50 pm
An incredibly frustrating game for a number of reasons.First off, I was stuck in front of the stupidest loud mouth in the history of Widnes. Kept calling everyone "maggot" and blaming the referee even when he didn't blow his whistle. I honestly had to put my headphones in second half to drown out his offensive noise. Listening to The Prodigy whilst watching rugby league aint half bad. Maybe next time I'm watching it on sky I will turn off that bald fool and stick on ACDC instead.
There were old people and kids about and this idiot was ruining it for everyone. If we'd have had him as coach, centre or referee we'd no doubt win 80-0 every week. Seriously, sometimes I just think, you know what, go home, take a look in a mirror, and shout the things you are saying right now. See how it looks and whether you are as ashamed as you should be in retrospect. Go see a good psychologist and get a new hobby. Painting never lets you down. If you're this bad at sporting events, don't go because you have a problem.
We could all have a good moan about the referee, some of the cumberland throws going about were making me annoyed. But let's check the facts shall we. In the first half hour there were around 7 or 8 penalties against us, and Lee Doran was involved in every single one.
Yes I know he puts the hard work in. But so do other people and he undermines them every time he gives away a stupid penalty. We could find a work horse like him who didn't give away as many penalties. I'd be happy with someone slightly less commited if he didn't get penalised so much because it's hard to get possession or retain it with this man and so it's hard to win any games. Next year, get rid, and never get back. Not good enough, too stupid. Oh for a Julian F O Neill. He was no angel but he was a hard worker who was much better with discipline.
Poor conditions for rugby league but I felt that we could have won that and it was discipline which cost us most and a lot of that is down to the one man.
Jamie Rooney lost a bit of respect from me by gesturing to our supporters. You sometimes get that in a cheeky way but this was more winding us up. I thought he was better than that. Broadbent, good player, but a motormouth once again and the referee just kept speaking to him instead of taking action. We had a player sent off for taking out the kicker but just five minutes earlier we had the same happen to us and not so much as a penalty. It took a long list of infractions before he took action against Barrow, including two or three tackles with our players getting dumped on their heads.
But regardless of all this we should have beat this lot and we lost it ourselves and that is why the afternoon was so frustrating. From the imbecile mouthing off behind me to the idiot giving away penalties on the pitch and the idiot in the middle who lost control I was surrounded by stupidity.
