Saints will probably run up a cricket score should they send over a decent side but it will be another tough hit out for our lot before the first serious game.
Simmons has only mentioned two players for our squad so far so you should win!
We still have a number of players injured or recovering from injury thanks to last year's ridiculous player wipeout. Therefore, Simmons has stated that he is not playing anyone who so much as has a niggle, much less our broken ankles, legs and ribs. So ... we know that Leon is playing (his first match back after a neck op) and his halfback partner will be Lee Gaskell, who had his debut at first grade last season. Kyle Eastmond is still in rehab. Apparently Jamie Foster will be playing at fullback, which I am looking forward to as I think he has potential there so I hope he goes well. Paul Wellens is recovering from a cracked rib and pulled hamstring, so he won't be playing. We will be fielding as much of a first choice team as possible but will definitely be without Jonny Lomax and Josh Perry, as they are both still recovering from injury. I don't know who else is in rehab but since we are sending a team to York City Knights on the same day then I think the chances are we will be bringing a strong team, bearing in mind the injury situation.
I am so looking forward to this match. It feels like forever since I watched some rugby! I hope we manage to give you a good match. I have no idea what to expect from Saints as we have a new look team and a new coach and will be playing in our new (if temporary) stadium for the first time. At least I'll be able to get a decent coffee in nice surroundings just before kickoff!
