Quote yorksguy1865="yorksguy1865"Really like the new headingley, always thought Leeds needed a more modern, high-profile ground given the size of the club and how well known they are. Finally done something about that massive gap between the cricket stand and the pitch as well. Love that banqueting hall with the dual aspect windows to see both grounds. I suppose there is nothing that can really be done about the terracing on the end seen as there is no room behind it.
Do we know what capacity it is going to be, I imagine it will be getting close to Wigan and hull, around 25,000?'"
There are no figures mentioned on capacity but, from the loose statements floating around, it will probably be very similar to what Headingley currently has (although I expect a slight increase as some of the safety restrictions get lifted).
Because of where it is, planning permission for any substantial capacity increase would be nigh-on impossible to get approved. Headingley is already one of the most congested parts of the city so the idea of an extra x-thousand turning up on Friday night won't go down well.
The emphasis from the club seems to be more about increasing revenue from hospitality and premium seats, which is probably the right thing to do given the ground's limitations.
