It was good for a neutral as it was such a close game but it was far from a classic. If the Grand final was next week I don't think many teams would be too bothered about playing Wigan or Wire. Wigans kicking game was very poor and they look vulnerable under any decent high ball. Tomkins won't get away with completely missing 2 bombs every week and they certainly had the best of the decisions. Tony Smith won't be happy with a shedload of basic errors , but in fairness their handling and combinations will improve as the weeks go by. I wouldn't say either looked a standout team tonight, but like I said, as a neutral you'd want the televised games to be as close as that every week.

As RL fans we are terribly spoilt you know. Fans of any other team sport would be passing out in excitement to witness a contest like that, yet some focus on the errors and dismiss it as "far from a classic".



If England's next RU game has one tenth of the intensity, skill, physicality and drama the media will be falling over themselves to report on it for next two weeks.

Just watched the highlights of Sale v Exeter (blink and you'll miss them). Absolutely no comparison in the skills and intensity compared to what was on show at the DW tonight. Basic offloads have Miles Harrison and Stuart Barnes creaming themselves. If they had seen that one from Joel tonight, or the O'Loughlin one, they would have needed a change of trousers.

Good game. We were very rusty and the forwards won't be into full swing for a few weeks yet but played well.
