Charlie was having his Hydrotherapy Session this morning at the Gym , when about 20 Wigan players came into the Pool , to relax after their Gym session , Sam Hopkins was with them , we had a chat about how he is getting on at Wigan , he said it was very good , only his 3rd session with them though , but enjoying it very much .



I asked him if we would still see him at the LSV ?He said he will always be a Leyther , and when not playing for Wigan , would still watch Leigh , when possible , nice to see ya Sam

Really looking forward to seeing how he goes for us. What's his general strengths and weaknesses?



Watching Chris Hill in the World Cup just makes me pray this lad can do a similar job for us. He has been sensational and his status after this comp will raise considerably. He looks one of the best in the world at the moment.

He is a lot better than Jamie Peacock imo and with full time training will soon be in the England squad.



And I bet I am the only person on here who knocked Chris and Sam out on the same evening.

We will put you on the Fight Night bill , im sure we can find you an eager opponent .

I will be attending of course but will not fight unless someone nicks my pint.

He has potential, good feet and hands, should bulk up with Ft and could do very well for you

A lot will depend on how much of a chance he is given, a decent run of games to get him up to the speed and intensity of SL and he could flourish, put in and out and he could struggle as other Championship players have when treated the same way

SAMs a good player seen him flourish as a youngster at Leigh East. Hope he's given a chance.

Mo , Charlie is allowed out 3-4 mornings a week for Hydrotherapy Sessions , under strict supervision and heavy medication , ive started a Fruit only diet recently , and ate 4 Terrys Chocolate Oranges yesterday , im trying Toffee Apples today .

He'll get a crack at Wigan I'm sure. We have good depth in the forwards but there aren't a great deal of stand out props and after Ben Flower and Scott Taylor (2 guaranteed starters in the 17) the rest of the lads have points to prove and need to nail down a spot. If you then look at the back row he'll struggle to get past Hansen, Farrell or Lockers but a bench spot will be open and he'll need to fight off Jack Hughes, Bateman, Clubb and Greg Burke to get it.



It will help Hopkins that he has that versatility to shift between back and front row.

No I think you'll find that is Purple Aki. Last heard of around Huddersfield apparently.

Sam will be better than Sean Oloughlin. He plays the game like Sean but given full time training will be bigger and better.

O'Loughlin for me is one of the most under rated players about. People talk about players with the 'full package' and he has it.



As strong as Sam is running and tackling, does he have the ability to pass, kick, set up a play or execute a final pass like O'Loughlin does?



It will be interesting to see where his future lies in the pack, does anyone actually know his best position? I know he's played prop and 13 a lot at Leigh but I think he'll make a great back rower, in the mould of Ben Westwood.

Agreed and Sean has been one of my favourate players but Sam has size over Sean. Don't underestimate Sam's abillities, he has a very good pair of hands.
