Me and a few friends were looking at getting some decent grub in widnes next thursday. Are there any chinese banquet style restaurants? or something similar?

Golden Phoenix in town was pretty good last time I went, two years ago mind. Right near Wetherspoons.

Nothing particularly brilliant that I know of. I know there was a little Italian restaurant near the Asda on Widnes Rd that I was always tempted to try, I'm not sure if that's still there. As for most places, I'd save your money and get some pub grub.

The Golden Phoenix was okay on my last visit, which was also about two years back!

Is the Golden Pheonix a chinese banquet all you can eat sort of place? The quality of food doesnt have to be too great as it's for students, aslong as it doesnt have a bad reputation. Also how far away from the town centre in this place? as we will be walking from the town centre.

Desi indian restauraunt is nice and the imperial is ok for food.The unicorn and black horse is good in cronton.A few for you mate,but seems you need a place in the town vicinity?

Near town mate and imperial and desi not too far from town mate.

It's technically in the town centre, just off the main street. If you see the Halifax just go straight on from there and its on your right. It's that type of place yes. The aforementioned italian is also close to the centre and the food is very good indeed, there are a few restaurants if you go in the direction of the asda from the main street, that italian is quality but I can't think of the name now. Haven't you lot got an iphone between you or anything?

The black horse burgers are nothing short of sensational. Homemade and I don't think I have ever tasted a better burger anywhere on the planet. Church View is a definite no, no. Heard some terrible stories about the food there.

If it's cheap and cheerful your after for a Rinky Dink then Thrifty's (Golden Phoenix) is a good one.

I do not go for the burgers mate.Got to think of my figure.

Unicorn was very good 12 months ago but i am not a regular diner.If want a burger, may aswell go to one of the pizza places in town.For a reasonable price meal i would go the imperial.Sometimes it depends on the chefs, as you could be their when a crap one is on.

. My friend lives on sayce street so this place 'golden pheonix' is literally a stones throw away. looks like a sensible choice

It's a restaurant, not an all you can eat. Not cheap for a gang of students.

If want cheap i would say imperial or wetherspoons mate.
